Print Guide

If you are getting weird prints from your perfect template, you have come to the right page. First, do no use the embedded Browser Print feature for it will print everything on the page, including unwanted controls. Use Menu > Print instead, which will bring the following settings:

Pages: Only Print What You Need

You can select individual (or list of) page to print by just selecting the page number from the “Pages” list.

Layout

Back Page Orientation : Flipping not Clipping

When your template is clipped to the board you can see page 1 alright, but you may want a quick peek at page 2. You could do this without unclipping if you printed using the “Flipped” back page orientation. This option makes sense for alternate airport information, which you would want to the top of page 2.

Page Sequence: Will this be a fold or a cut?

If you plan on printing and folding, Side By Side is the best choice. If you are printing on high quality paper that will not be folded, then pick “Back to Back” and contiguous pages will be organized to print on the back of each other. Print settings matter for this to work, assuming you are trying to do this in one pass: 1) Print on both sides and 2) Flip on the short edge.

Clip Margin : Make Room For Clipper

It’s up to you if you want to maximize kneeboard real estate or convenience. A large margin will be more intuitive to clip, no margin may require fine tuning to see everything

Margin Notes : Kneeboard Meta Data

What you start to have enough kneeboard and versions you may want to keep things organized. These margin notes is how to get things in order.

Create PDFs to use as Foreflight docs

Pesky System Settings

Margins should default to 0.25″ which works well for two pages in Landscape mode. Should you try anything other combination, you may have to adjust margins to get best results.

Background Graphics have drastic effect on Checklists, NavLogs and SunLight tile print layout. If your checklist lost it’s alternating color, you probably have this setting off.

iPad / iPhones

iOS devices have a different response to print preview. As a result, you will need to click anywhere in the page to exit print mode. That true whenever you come back from iOS print dialog.
